Riverfest Ticket Prices On the Rise
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette is reporting gate prices will rise to $30 this year for adults, $5/day for kids aged 7-10. Kids 6 and under can get in for free.
Riverfest's official website shows that advance tickets will be available online in mid-February for $25 plus shipping and handling. Half-price tickets are slated to be on sale again this year in mid- to late-April at various locations in Central Arkansas that have not yet been named.
Another change for 2010: the cost of admission is only for the Little Rock side of the river. All events in North Little Rock will be free for the entire public. Despite the division, both sides of the river will be a part of Riverfest.

A day for our family now would be $100 even at the advance ticket price. A boy with a date now pays $50 minimum. Add the cost of food and drinks and the price is out of many people's range that used to go regularly. Like so many other things, what started out as a good idea has turned into something very different. Like the ticket prices of major league sports teams, the leagues keep touting their attendance - but look at who the attendees are. And people wonder why lower income kids are getting into more and more trouble.
