Magnolia - Authorities say they are conducting a homicide investigation into the death of a man whose body was found at the site of an oil well in Columbia County.
Forty-two-year-old Geno Perdue was found dead Tuesday. His body has been turned over to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy. Perdue worked for an oil well service company.
The body was found at about 10:00 a.m., and Columbia County Coroner Randy Reed said Perdue had been dead for about 12 hours when discovered.
The well is south of Emerson, about a mile west of U.S. Highway 79.
Columbia County deputies and state police responded to the scene.
