Little Rock - The city of Little Rock has started over the process of seeking proposals for what to do with Ray Winder Field.
The 77-year-old baseball park has been vacant since the Arkansas Travelers moved to a new stadium in North Little Rock two seasons ago. City directors reopened the process on Tuesday.
Last week, the city had to toss out the three proposals that were submitted in the previous attempt at picking an entity to put the land to use. The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and the Little Rock Zoo were each disqualified because they publicly discussed financial aspect of their proposals.
A group that wanted to keep the stadium for use as a sports facility didn't meet minimum requirements.
UAMS wants to raze the stadium and convert the space to a parking lot, until the hospital and medical school needs to expand again. The zoo has proposed using the land for a large elephant enclosure.
