police down here help out when the keys get locked in the cars. ,but it goes to show you you should never leave your keys in the car when your not behind the drivers seat.....

The trooper ran a check on this guy and found him to have a suspended license. That was enough justification to ask to search the car.

BTW Dude 2 - Weather has to do with atmospheric conditions and is not spelled the same as the word whether. Example: "It just depends on the trooper you get as to" whether "or not they will help you". The weather has nothing to do with it! I hope that helps you sort things out! :-)

Dude 2
It just depends on the trooper you get as to weather or not they will help you. My truck stopped on me one night and the trooper actually helped me push it off the road and into a parking lot and then gave me a ride to a store so I could call for help This trooper here was not interested in helping he was wanting to see what he could find. Allowing his car to be stolen right out from under his nose was not very bright. I believe it is even illegal to leave your car running while you are not in it..

The trooper obviously found enough to justify identifying the driver under Terry. That's what we get paid below minimum wage to do!!!

"A motorist stopped along Interstate 55 allegedly stole and wrecked a state police car after a trooper had stopped to help him.

Trooper Gary Ladner stopped when he saw the white sedan Wednesday with a flat and found Marcus F. Course in the driver's seat."

If he stopped to "help" he would have surpassed inspecting his car and asking for his identification. I got a flat off of I-430 where stuff is always in the road, and the officer stood in the median watching, insisting he could not help us two girls with the physical part of it but would be glad to watch and make sure we didn't have to walk anywhere. He also offered to wait til our ride showed up if we could not change it ourselves.

Yes the man obviously had something to run from, which I am glad to say he didn't get away with and glad he's off the street for awhile anyway, but just asking for information without cause is not justified

Oh man, how embarassing. I bet this guy never gets to live this one down. Bet they put him in some old clunker for a while. Poor guy.

1. Driving with a flat causes a traffic hazard, impeads the normal flow of traffic, and could cause an accident, thereby making it ILLEGAL to do so. 2. Maybe the officer, deputy, trooper that passed you up didn't see you, couldn't SAFELY get over in traffic, or was going to a dispatched call. A flat is NOT an emergency, even in this self-absorbed world. 3. Generally, officers, deputies, troopers are not allowed by DEPARTMENTAL POLICY to change flats because of possibility of injury (which would take them out of service for a stupid reason), because they may miss or be late for a REAL emergency or OFFICER ASSIST CALL because they are tied up with you, and most important, if you have a wreck or do something stupid after that tire gets changed, we all know who is the first one you will blame and try to sue. That's right, the officer, deputy, or trooper.

Hey Justdontgetit.....you actually jogged my memory with your comment and I have to agree that I've heard and seen the same thing. That cops don't help motorists with flat tires and such. So much for Protect and Serve! IMHO, a GOOD cop would stop and offer some assistance, even if just to call a tow truck. But I actually think there is something in their by laws that says they can't. I'm not sure though.

what was the officer doing pulling over just because someone has a flat tire. heck, i had a flat the officer refused to help me
