It's being called a wicked good time. It's the Arkansas Repertory Theatre's annual fundraiser known as Saints and Sinners. Performers at the Rep are putting the final touches on this year's performance.
(Nicole Capri, Director) “This year, we're basing it on Broadway's Wicked, which is the biggest selling show on Broadway.”
It's the story of the witches in The Wizard of Oz.--but this version has a southern twist.
(Capri) “You'll hear us talk about people in Little Rock and in Arkansas, and some of the fun things that it is to be a southerner.”
The evening will also include dinner and a live auction, which includes a trip to the Tony Awards in New York City.
It's a fun and theatrical way to ensure future productions at the Rep.
(Capri) “The Rep's kind of out there, we're the artsy organization. We try to do something a little bit funky and fun. There's no stuffiness about this ball whatsoever. If you're walking in the door, you're definitely ready to step into the land of Oz. Step into a fantasy world and experience... it's not like going to a themed restaurant. This is the full theatrical experience.”
