Lafe - The mayor of a small northeast Arkansas town has died. Mayor Wayne Tritch of Lafe served the town of about 380 people for 13 years.
He was diagnosed with cancer late last year and died Friday morning. He was too ill to be sworn into office with other council members last week after he was re-elected in November.
City council member Pat McBride says Tritch was a great person and a good mayor, who did a lot for the Greene County town.
According to the Arkansas Municipal League, the law requires that recorder/treasurer Denise Knuckles serve as acting mayor until the city council appoints a new mayor.
