Strong southerly winds will increase tonight and Thursday ahead of a cold front that moves through late Thursday. Those southerly winds and partly cloudy skies will boost temperatures again Thursday to near record levels. Highs in the afternoon will reach the mid 70's to low 80's. Northern Arkansas may be cooler depending on the timing of the frontal passage. Warm air aloft will act to inhibit rain or thunderstorms. The exception may be far southeast Arkansas in the afternoon or evening. Winds will shift to the northwest as the front passes and temperatures will drop up to 20 degrees by Friday. More normal readings for this time of year as well as dry weather for the weekend.
