1:30 PM Tuesday Update... As expected, very isolated storms are firing. I hear some thunder, but no rain yet. Here's a picture of those storms building.

11 AM Tuesday Update... It's an unbelievable and unbearable 96 degrees already. On top of that, the dew point is 76 producing a heat index of 109. Our chance of hitting 100 today is unfortunately good.
7 AM Tuesday Update... This heat wave shows signs of ending soon. We will endure another day with readings near 100 degrees.
There will be a chance for an isolated shower or storm later this afternoon. As indicated in the video below from yesterday, the NAM model continues to show the target area western Arkansas. This model shows elevation quite well. The combination of strong afternoon heating, high humidity, and some lift due to the elevation should give this area of the state a very, very small chance for a shower or storm.
The models really do show the ridge of high pressure responsible for the heat wave breaking down starting this weekend. We'll keep you updated.
3 PM Monday Update... At 3 PM, it's 98 in Little Rock making it the hottest so far this year. The heat index is 107.
Today's video discussion... National Weather Service changes criteria for severe thunderstorms and is there any relief from the heat?
Thanks. You do a great job.
