Turned On The A.C. Yet?

5 PM Tuesday Update... I broke down and turned mine on Monday.  It got into the mid 80s today and that A.C. felt great.

On another note, we have something new to show you Wednesday on Live at 5.  We have been working hard on it and I'll post more about it Wednesday.   This has been one of the reasons that I have not been posting much lately.  Stay tuned, your thoughts will be asked for.

A friend of mine who lives on Signal Mountain, TN inspired me for this blog entry.  He would wait as long as possible before turning on the air in his house.  I think one year he made it all the way until Memorial Day before he broke down and had to chill his home.

So with temperatures pushing 80 degrees over the next few days my question is... have you turned on your air and how long are you willing to wait? I want to wait as long as possible before those high electric bills arrive.

Leave a comment below and we'll post the good ones.

I would rather blog about this than have to talk more about severe weather or flooding.

Please keep the comments coming.  I do not have the ability to post them right now, but they will be within the next couple of days.

We have not had any heat in our house since March, and we always try to wait until June to turn on the AC. If the night temperatures will stay cool, we'll make it with no problems.

Heck yea we have turned on our AC!! We will actually run the heat and the AC in the same day if we have to. You know that good 'ole Arkansas weather! If its freezing cold in the morning we will run the heat for a bit to get warmed up and turn it off before leaving for work, then usually by the afternoon its HOT! So we run the AC!! Here lately though we have not needed the heat anymore. We turn the AC off when we leave for work, its not THAT hot yet! But we are not gonna be uncomfortable in our own home just to save some money.

I believe it was Saturday or Sunday night I had to turn on the AC. I was simply getting stuffy in the house. I am allergic to various pollens and dust, so I do not dare open the windows.

We don't turn on our air until we have to, trying to keep the bills lower. But we cannot open the windows becasue of all the pollen floating around. Whats a person to do?

Yes, unfortunately our air has been running off and on for about 2 months, depending on the temperatures. My husband is a contractor and likes to be cool when he gets home.

We have turned ours on already. Our new mobile home heats up alot during the day will all the sun. We put it on 73 today!!!!! I'm hot natured! We have had it on at work for a while due to all the electronics, etc here at State Police HQ in Newport!!!

I am told keeping it on 74-75 is the best way to avoid high energy bills. But I tend to turn it lower because I feel it does work harder if it's below that. I don't turn it down as low for as long anymore though because one year I ended up paying 350$ for a light bill. I usually turn it on before the end of April. I even hear it could get close to 90 during the first days in May.

If I used the AC for only the heat, I could wait. But with the humidity being what it is in Arkansas, I will use it more than your friend. Usually, I'll bump the temp down about a degree in the evening just to dry things out. So far, I've done that once or twice this year. Doing it like that and using ceiling fans helps the electric bill.

Good blogs...
