1 PM Sunday Update... A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for eastern Arkansas until 7 PM. Large hail will be the main threat as a cold upper low moves overhead. Gusty winds will be possible as well.

7:30 PM Update... By the way, I'll be taking pictures and posting them here once the baby's room is finished. Andria has agreed to let me have one wall with a weather theme. This should be fun. Any suggestions?
Noon Saturday Update... The rain is moving into the southwest section of the state early this afternoon and there are pockets of heavy rainfall. While there will be some ponding on roadways, I don't expect any major issues with flooding.
I have been checking the long term and it looks very quiet. The GFS shows highs getting into the upper 70s by the end of next week, but I think there's potential to go well into the 80s at that time.
On another note, if you missed Saturday Daybreak, I had a big announcement. My wife and I are expecting our first child in August. It's a boy and we are excited beyond anything you can imagine. We have a name already, but we're keeping it quiet until the big day arrives. I finally have my new fishing buddy, storm chase partner, etc. This is why I have been busy finishing up projects around the house. We have been wanting to update our kitchen so that's something I am trying to finish up quickly so I can work on the nursery. I have only a couple more days of work on that, then I can get busy on the baby's room. I'll keep everyone updated.
According to some of the latest information, quite a bit of rainfall can be expected. 5 Day amounts could reach 3-4 inches across the south section of the state with lesser amounts north. The threat for severe weather is low at this time. This should start late Friday into Saturday.
As we go into the beginning of next week, there appears to be a burst of cold air. Not record breaking, but below average for sure. After that, The GFS and Euro are hinting at our first real burst of warm air by the middle and end of next week. It's a long way out in the forecast so we'll see if it pans out.
You may find this hard to believe, but I'm still working on my kitchen. Sanding down cabinets and painting them takes awhile. So I apologize for not posting much this week. I haven't forgotten the new project we hope to launch soon. Sorry for the delay in that, but it's coming.
Below is the expected rainfall amounts by the HPC over the next 5 days...
