Record Rains Fall On Arkansas

This should not be any surprise, several areas of northern Arkansas not only set records for the wettest March on record, but the wettest month ever.  Records for Calico Rock  go back to 1904, Gilbert 1924, Marshall 1948, Salem 1955, and Subiaco 1910.

12 other locations in northern Arkansas had their wettest March on record, but it was not the wettest month ever.

The outlook over the next few days isn't promising if you want dry weather.   More rain is expected and many of our computer models that we use for forecasting guidance indicates the heaviest amounts close to the Missouri border.  Amounts could be in the range of 2-4 inches or more.  While this is nothing compared to the heavy rains a couple of weeks ago, it will not take much to cause flooding since the ground is so saturated. The good news... the weekend looks dry right now.  Stay tuned for the latest information.

Thanks to the National Weather Service office in North Little Rock for the record rain information.
