Record Rain To Record Low?

7:30 AM Monday Update... The low last night was 49 in Little Rock.  No Record.

Right now, it's the ninth wettest May on record for Little Rock with 10.48 inches.  In North Little Rock, it's the 2nd wettest May on record with 9.71 inches.  The next several days will offer much drier weather as cool Canadian high pressure builds into the region.

Because of that cool area of high pressure,  the record low temperature Monday morning could be challenged.  The record is 46 set in 1895.  As of Sunday morning, I'm forecasting a low of 49 degrees so it's within reach.  The NAM model shows a low of 46 and the GFS shows 48.  I think the wet ground could prevent a big drop in temperatures, but it's definitely worth watching.

In 1895, the first American automobile race started. It involved 6 cars and went 55 miles with an average speed of 7 mph.   The first movie theater opened in Paris.  Grover Cleveland was the President of the United States and James Paul Clarke was the governor of Arkansas.   Thanks google!

Also, on a personal note, the nursery is coming along just fine.  I will have pictures soon.

Todd how about the storm for this weekend and early next week looks like we might could get some really heavy rain on top of all that we ahve got so far.

Todd, great update! I love weather history and how current events compare to the past. It looks like 1979 is in reach if Little Rock get a heavy thunderstorm before June 1st. NLR has a chance to have the wettest May ever.

It's hard to believe how clear the sky is today! I forgot what it looks like. We made to 43.7F just off the Saline River this morning.

Hi Todd. Thanks for the update on the blog. I am looking forward to this dry weather this week. I believe we do need it. I personally love winter so I am glad to have this little taste of it here in May. Thanks again and pleas keep us updated on the next chance for the wet stuff.
