Oppressive Heat To Better Weather

9:30 PM Saturday Update... At 9 PM the heat index is still 102 degrees in Little Rock.

6 PM Saturday Update... This picture defines the term "isolated" when we talk about it in the forecast.  A small storm moved through the metro with half of downtown getting some rain and the other half dry.  Here's a picture looking to the west on Capitol.

The highest heat index readings across the state were recorded Saturday with Little Rock hitting an outrageous 111 degrees.  Below are heat index temperatures at 5 PM Saturday.

The much talked about cool front will push through the state Sunday with only a small chance for a shower or storm.   You will really notice the change in air mass at night as lows drop into the 60s next week.

The dew point lately has been well into the 70s.  This is what has pumped our heat index to dangerous levels.  Below is our exclusive model, futurecast.  It indicates the dew point dropping into the lower 60s late Monday.  This will set the stage for some pleasant evenings.  I hope everyone can enjoy this break in the heat.

At about 5:20 in Sherwood we had heavy winds and golf ball hail. Thunder also and a loss of power for about 30 seconds.
