New Year Brings Active Weather

Here it is noon on Monday and the temperature is 60 degrees with a strong SW wind.  Temperatures will fall later on as a strong arctic front moves through the state.  The first two days of 2008 will be quite cold and windy.  In my opinion, the big story has to be the overnight lows Wednesday morning and Thursday morning.  They could be close to 10 up north and around 20 central and south.  This will make it the coldest air we have seen this season.  Also, add some wind to it, and wind chill factors will be brutal.

Now, if you don't like cold weather, just wait until the weekend when temperatures recover into the low 60s with humidity coming back into the state.  This will set the stage for a stormy week next week.  There are some indications that a strong storm system will affect the central United States by the middle of next week.

One other note, watch Daybreak Tuesday morning.  From 5-6 AM we will look back and count down the 5 biggest weather stories of the year for Arkansas.  Have a Happy and safe New Year!!!
