The storm that produced the EF4 was interesting to study. At one time, the NEXRAD in North Little Rock could see debris picked up by the tornado at around 3500 feet in elevation. We discussed the atmospheric conditions that led to the outbreak and how the thunderstorm that affected western and northern Arkansas evolved that evening. Understanding these things helps us forecast in the future. The one positive thing with the Feb. 5th storm was the fact warnings were issued well in advance of the storm. Lets hope we never see anything like that again.
These guys at the weather service office deserve much credit for saving lives that day in February. They are the ones who issue official warnings. We're lucky to have them here.
