I love it ) a reality in Jonesboro. Look at the buzz that has been created by just the talk of Nolan Richardson coming to Jonesboro. It's been unbelievable !!! ASU basketball is in bad shape. The record, the attendance, the passion for the program ....It's sad. Northeast Arkansas is a great basketball area. Just look at the interest and buzz created by the NEA High School Tourney.
So what will Nolan bring to the ASU program ? They will be getting a National Championship coach who will improve the program the day he takes the job. Nolan doesn't like to lose and will insist that the University give him the tools to be successful on a National level. Corliss Williamson and Todd Day have been mentioned as possible assistant coaches.. Day and Corliss would allow you to get into homes in Memphis and Little Rock that have been closed to ASU in the past.. You will also be getting a coach who is a great fundraiser... Camps.. Golf Tourneys.. It will also change the way the media treats ASU Basketball.
This is also a good fit for Nolan. He knows the area, it's close to home, and he loves a challenge... and he's 66... a young 66...but even Nolan would tell you that he doesn't want to be coaching at 75 !!! It's clear now that the ball is in Nolan's court. I'm confident that if he decides to return to coaching.. it will be at ASU..... Just think of the hype when Nolan takes his Wolves to Little Rock to play Shields, Kleine and the Trojans. I can't wait !!!!
