Krazy Mike's
Buffalo wings and fries
What an unexpected, pleasant surprise! You know how people can and will say , " this or that restaurant is great!" And

Marcos Islas Fried Chicken Tenders, French Fries and sauteed veggies
you're like, "Yeah, right!?" Well one of our blogging friends was on to something when he suggested I check out Krazy Mikes in west LR. The restaurant is in the old New York Bagel location in Bowman curve, for those of you who might remember. The namesake, Mike Groves says he chose to call his restaurant Krazy because that's what his niece affectionately calls him... and it is also what the naysayers told him when he talked about opening his new venture in such a tough economy.

Well, Groves hasn't looked back since opening 3 1/2 months ago... with the exception of reminding a few of his customers that he came from good restaurant stock. His family was in the business for about 20 years in Pine Bluff... notice I say was... that "was" until his dad came up with an ingenious process to clean proteins (like catfish and shrimp) to remove the impuritites... (they call it the Grovac process and even have a patent on it. His dad focuses on that aspect of the food industry now from his home base in Rogers )
This time Groves is looking forward and says he decided to open a hot wing/shrimp/poboy/catfish hot spot... cooking it the way only he knew how to... and the finished product?... well, you'll just have to taste for yourself.
Krazy Mike's isn't large and it is a cook-to order business - Groves boasts you won't find any heat lamps in his joint. But if you don't have the luxury of eating in, call ahead, they promise to have it ready... or get take-out. Specialties? If you ask him, everything on the menu.... but his customers rave about his poboys which are made on authentic Leidenheimer French Bread (straight outa Naw-lins). He seasons his catfish with a little salt and pepper and garlic - it's fried to a crispy golden brown delicacy... that is light and tasty. He also offers it grilled (see if you can guess what the special seasoning is on the fish when it's prepared that way).
There are eight varieties of seasonings for the hot wings - my favorite: the Thai Chili sauce. Salads and other sandwiches, like burgers, are also on the menu. Plus, a daily offering of homemade cakes. Groves says if you want to try the mandarin orange cake, better get it early in the week - it doesn't last long. And here's something that many guests and I appreciate - the eatery also has "crushed ice."
Krazy Mikes offers delivery service as well. It is family-friendly and features a kid's menu.
