More Maddie's Place
Q - Many of you asked "what's a po-boy, anyway?"
A - po-boy - A sandwich extravaganza that began as a five-cent lunch for poor boys. Always made with French bread, po-boys can be stuffed with fried oysters, catfish, shrimp, crawfish or whatever the creator wants them to consist of ...

Catfish with Butter Beans and Greens

"My wife and I tried Maddie's Place and it was Outstanding. They were very busy and the restaurant is small so expect some noise, but you will NOT be disappointed. My wife had the shrimp with grits (sounds strange but it was very good). I had the catfish with butter beans and greens and I have not tasted better greens in my life (with regrets to my mother). For dessert, we had the bread pudding and a piece of lemon pie - WOW! 7 stars is not enough for this restautant!."

Great job reporting on allthe local dining establishments. I haven't made it to Maddie's place yet, but it really sounds good. I just discovered Krazy Mike's Shrimp and Wings in West LR at Bowman Curve. All I can say is wow! They have a full onslaught of Gulf style seafood. The Po'Boys are ther real deal as well. I reccomend checking it out. The owners are really nice as well. Everything is cooked to order! Yum!
Hey John: You really got my attention. I'm so there!!! Thanks for the recommendation - I'll let you know what I think. Also, thanks for taking the time to send the note.
Best, Pam
There is a new Resturant in the River Market area called "FATSAM" It is abosolutely delicious!
Hi Ruby - thanks for your post. I am aware of Fat Sam's, in fact, have eaten there on several occasions. You're right their food is delicious. I featured the owner, James Meador, in a story I did during Riverfest. And, unfortunately, he and and another restaurant opened shop after I'd done a separate feature on places to eat in the River Market. I, hopefully, will get to do something else with him a little later. But thanks for keeping me in the loop in the meantime. BTW - I really love his pulled pork, the hot water corn bread is the bomb and you must try his peach cobbler.

Hi Randy:
Thanks for taking the time to leave a note. Hate you had a disappointing experience regarding desserts - but I'm sure management welcomes your feedback as they are a new game in town and based on my conversation with Chef Brian Deloney, he takes personal pride in his offerings and will want to address your concerns. I trust that unfortunate experience was the exception and not the rule. I appreciate your candor. Keep it coming! Best, Pam
