One Year Since Dumas Tornado

First of all, I apologize again for not posting in a while.  I have been doing a lot of editing the past few weeks and have had very little time to post.  Thanks for being patient!

Today, Jessica Dean, Brian Ferguson and Myself went to the Dumas First Assembly of God Church to cover the one year anniversary of the Tornado that destroyed several homes and businesses on February 24, 2007.  I did not cover this storm live, but I can only imagine the scene following the storm.  As with most everywhere we go, we were greeted with amens hospitality in Dumas. Even today, I heard countless stories about that day one year ago, and how some who lost everything still helped others during the clean up.  After being in Clinton and Mountain View a few weeks ago, then Dumas, I know those towns will be in as good or even better shape this time next year and I look forward to going back and seeing the progress they have made as well.  Below are a few pictures of the crew in Dumas today.  Enjoy.  I will try to keep more in touch as we travel the long, sometimes bumpy, but always interesting road that is Newstar Adventures!

Until Next time!

This was neat to find. I use to live in Dumas and this is the church my husband and I were married in almost 20 years ago. I remember going to youth services here and still have family that live there, as well as Watson. Wishing you all the best in your recovery of the town.

I sure hated to hear about rhe tower falling, because it was a great lightning rod. I used to watch the strikes it would receive in a strom. And also when I drove a truck, I would be happy to see the tower in the night sky flashing a sign I was almost home for the night or weekend. Even while I lived there it was something to see a any time of day or night. I used to wish that I could go to the top just to look at the country side. But I didn`t think I could stand to climb that high. So now when I go to visit I`ll surely miss seeing the tower letting me know that I`m almost there. I hope that a new tower is built back in its place. Even while it was being built I was just a teenager going to the Redfield race track for the races. It was something to watch it grow taller and taller each week. And now it`s like everything else its gone too.
