I'm back, sorry about the delays between postings I'll try and get better at this. I was in NY to interview Amy Adams and Lee Pace for the new film "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day". I cannot wait for ya'll to see this film. It's like a really good whipped dessert. A fun period romp about an actress (played by Adams) who's life is forever changed by a "social secretary" named Miss Pettigrew (played by Frances McDormand). McDormand is great as always and Adams has a long career ahead of her. Lee Pace
(the star of the ABC show Pushing Daisies) plays the penniless piano player in love with our heroine.
Great stuff out on DVD this month including: Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey in "Enchanted" .
I adored this film and you can watch it with the entire family. I also liked "Dan in Real Life" starring Steve Carell and Juliette Binoche. It's a sweet romantic comedy you'll be glad you rented.
Also the vastly overlooked "Into the Wild" with tremendous performances by Emile Hirsch and Hal Holbrook is available for rent.
SNEAK PREVIEW ALERT: We're having a sneak preview of the film "21" coming up so keep watching Good Morning Arkansas for details on how you can get your free passes. As always each pass is good for 2 people but you must get there early to get a seat. True story of 6 MIT students who learned to count cards and took Vegas for millions. Starring Kevin Spacey and Kate Bosworth.
Question for you: Now that the Oscars and all the Top 10 Lists have come and gone I'm curious, what was the worst film you saw last year?

Hope this reaches you and finds you well. I have a couple of questions that may well be impossible to answer, but will give you a shot anyway. The networks seem to be pretty good about putting a whole season of a series on dvd, but are terrible about putting out a mini series. I had two of these mini series on vhs, but have not found them anywhere on dvd. They are "Chiefs" which starred Charlton Heston among others and followed the lives of three police chiefs in a small southern town over about 50 years. The second was "Inside the Third Reich" which starred Rutger Hauer as Albert Speer who was the architect who was to attempt to rebuild Berlin under Hitler. As I said, both of these were released on vhs and I have them, but they will not transfer to dvd because of whatever theydo to them to keep you from doing that. Is there anywhere on Earth that I can contact someone about finding out if these will ever be released on dvd? My second question is probably strange. I am old enough to remember when "The Alamo" with John Wayne came out. I went to the old Pines drive in to see it. For years now I have noticed at the beginning of the film there is a song credited, but I have never seen or heard that segment until recently. One evening while watching either AMC or TCM I had the movie on and the lost song and scenes had been restored. I had not even seen this when it originally came out. I have copies of the movie on dvd without the scene, but wondered if there is a copy available with the scene back in? I figure if they are going to make a three hour movie they may as well leave everything in. A few minutes won't make that big a difference.
I hope these are easier to answer than I think. Thanks for your time.

Jimmy the Critic: Loved Hoffman in "Charlie Wilson's War" he was the film. but I definetly saw worse this year. Hope you didn't sit through the 3 hour debacle that was "The Assasination of Jessie James by the Coward Robert Ford" only thing longer than the title was the actual film. I was ready to shoot him and I didn't care about the reward. Whatever would make the movie end!
going to LA this weekend to see "Street Kings" and interview the cast, could be a good action flick I'm going with an open mind.
Hey Renee,
It's your ole BlueDaddy just saying that the band "Donna Massey and Blue Eyed Soul" will be performing at the P.A. Tumbleweed Ball and look forward to seeing you there.
After a long night of entertaining, all of the band members like to get up early on Saturday mornings to catch your movie reviews. In fact, you've been voted by the band as the person we'd most like to share a bucket of popcorn with.
Anyway, we do hope you stick around long enough to hear "a few dance selections". Have a great day, Renee!
Blues Daddy, (just keepin' the groove alive)
DONNA MASSY AND BLUE EYED SOUL - "They're just do'in it for world peace!"
However, y'all steeered us wrong on "Eastern Promises." What a turkey. The filmmakers managed to dazzle an implausible plot, a heavy-handed performance by Viggo Mortenson, and an absolutely uinbelievable ending that came out of left fied with stylishe sets, a thick Russian accent, and a naked knife fight.
It's hard not to like a movie that has Naomi Watts, but she wasn't enough this time. Here we have a terrible villain who murders young girls and all sorts of other reprehensible stuff, and the viewer is supposed to buy that he can't bring himself to throw the baby in the river? Plus, our hero and heroine know exactly where to find him and get there at just the right moment. Roy Rogers and Dale Evans did this sort of thing more believably.
My husband and I were already put off by Mortenson's accent, which seemed to change for some reason throughout. We had to turn on Closed Captioning within his first few moments on screen. By the time the villain was crying and talking to the baby at the river, we were rolling with laughter. If you're laughing during a violent thriller, something is wrong with the movie. It's bad, that's what.
I know you like it. Perhaps you could tell me why. I do like what you do, so keep up the good work. By the way, I think you're right on about "Into the Wild." It's one of the best movies I saw all year with many stunning performances and great direction. Hollywood must hate Sean Penn.
