Zebra Striped Purse Cake
Items needed:
1- 10" round cake
Butter cream icing
fondant
brush
water
paste colors of choice
cornstarch
rolling pin
Bake and level a 10" round cake. Cut the cake in half and ice with butter cream. Stand the two halves up on the ends. Cover cake with butter cream icing.
Color your fondant with paste color of choice. Cut a 1 1/2 to 2" wide strip of colored fondant and place on the top middle of the cake as the purse opening. At each end of the strip place 2 triangles. Cut another strip to place as the closer for the purse. Cut 2 large circles, cut in half and place at each corner of the purse bottom. Cut zebra stripes and apply to purse with a damp brush. Insert handle into the cake. After all fondant is placed onto the cake brush each piece with a damp brush to remove any cornstarch. Then pipe, with tip 2 stitching, on the corners, triangle and purse closure.
The handle of the purse should be made 24-48 hours ahead of time to allow time for drying.
