FABRICS
Use fabrics draped over a table to get a new or seasonal look.
Cut a piece of yardage and tie it around an existing throw pillow to change the coloring and look.
Edges of fabrics can be embellished with trims or ribbons.
PAINT
Paint a piece of furniture you are tired of, perhaps a hand-me-down.
This can easily be done by yourself to save money, or by a professional to save on time. You can add a crackle or rubbed finish for an added effect.
Create your own artwork -- get a canvas from the hobby store and paint the background a solid color. Then add colors as you like using broad brush strokes.
Leftover wall paint can be used in any room in the house!
FRESH CUTTINGS
Don't buy fresh flowers -- just use something already growing in your own yard. This adds a natural dimension to the room, and can be changed out weekly with minimal cost.
You can compost the cuttings at the end of the week and save money in fertilizer -- plus it's good for the environment!
