I look back now on our first day in Russellville and laugh because we were all a little overwhelmed and the thought of 25 days seemed like an eternity. Instead, it truly flew by and before I knew it we were here. I cannot begin to tell you how much I've enjoyed this trip. Yes, the days have been looooong and there has been lots of work, but at the end of the day we all felt like we had accomplished something.
It has been so wonderful to spend time in all of these places that truly make Arkansas the unique state that it is. Shortly before I left, someone I'm close to said to me, 'I hope Arkansas captures your heart.' It certainly did that and more. As a native Arkansan, I had always loved this state, but now I can see that this is truly a special place with some of the friendliest, most dynamic characters you'll ever meet. We should be very proud of where we live and the people whom we call our neighbors.
I have to give a special shout out to the crew who has become like a second family to me: our morning photographer, Marcus; our satellite truck operators Potter and Steve; Photog Brian; Producer Chris, Producer Patrick, Alan and our news director, Randy. They all endured the long hours and shared in the daily hilarity.
And, I want to thank you for following along with us as we winded down the Arkansas highways and backroads. Your participation made this trip all the more fun. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did and maybe learned something new about the place we all call home.
I'll be taking the next week off, so you won't be hearing much from me. I hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Summer has now unofficially begun!
