We pulled into Lonoke about 7:15 last night. Photog Brian, Chris and I headed to Perry's for dinner and ended up meeting the owner, Mike Perry, who was all kinds of fun. His family has owned Perry's since 1968 and his mother has made more than 25,000 chocolate and coconut cream pies...all from scratch, of course.
Coincidentally, we were back at Perry's for our Daybreak shots this morning. The Chamber of Commerce organized everything and we had a great crowd. We also had some rodeo queens, which is a first for the Road Trip! I loved it. Of course we had to stop for breakfast after Daybreak was over. That's actually one of my favorite things about our day....the road trip crew all eats breakfast together and the stories that are told...so so funny.
We're headed to the Joe Hogan Fish Hatchery for our six o'clock story. I'm really looking forward to tour the hatchery. I think it will make for a great story, especially visually. We're also going to hit up the Depot Museum and talk with a cloth doll maker, which I think will be very cool.
One more thing I wanted to tell y'all. My younger sister is graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia on Monday, which means I will be gone on Monday and Tuesday. I'm not sure yet who will be filling in for me, but they will travel to our stops in Arkadelphia and Hot Springs. I'll rejoin in Malvern.
Enjoy your weekend! JD
Ask anyone in our town.. they will tell of you of his great work and missions.
We will miss you coach!
