Immediately we sent Michelle and a photographer to the scene. Then Angela (assignment editor) dispatched photogs across the city while we listened to the scanners as police chased the suspect. Our news director, Randy and I jumped in the car and headed to Interstate 30 and 630 where police had pulled over the suspect vehicle. I know I'm bias, but I think we handled the story well. It's just such a sad story. Violent acts like that always leave me so disappointed in people.
That story is just starting to calm down, so Photog Brian and I are heading out to Malvern to interview a woman who trains bomb dogs for various law enforcement organizations throughout the state. I'm very excited to meet her and hear her story. It will also be interesting to be back in Malvern post Road Trip. I feel like I know my way around a lot of these towns now. Maybe I'll run into some of the people I met when I was there a couple of weeks ago.
It's great to be back. Don't forget, if you've got any CYN story ideas, send them to me at jdean@katv.com.
