In yesterday's CYN story, we focused on the fact that enrollment at community colleges is spiking across the country and here in Arkansas. The two-year colleges are more affordable than the more traditional four-year institutions, and they get you back in the workforce faster. But let's say, you've been laid off. You want to extend your education to get a better job, but you don't have the money to do it. That's when the Department of Workforce Services can help: http://www.state.ar.us/esd/
The DWS has several programs available for Arkansans seeking additional professional training. You can find a list of them here (http://www.state.ar.us/esd/JobTraining/ADWS_Jobtraining.htm). However, DWS says the best thing to do is to walk into one of their field offices and ask a representative for help.
