New GMA baby segment

A new segment will start airing tomorrow (Tuesday) on Good Morning Arkansas on Channel 7. It will air the first Tuesday of each month from now until the baby is born. Each month we will discuss a different topic relating to where I am in the pregnancy process. This month the topic will be morning sickness (which I’m still battling). We’ll be talking with Curtis Lowery, M.D., Director of the OB/GYN Department at UAMS. Hopefully he has some good advice for me!

Just wanted to let you know in case you wanted to tune in!

I had all day sickness from about 8 weeks to 20 weeks. It was just awful. I saw Dr. Paul Wendel at UAMS because I was considered high risk since I was having triplets. I just loved him and all the nurses and staff. They were all so kind and helpful. We made it to 36 weeks and 3 days with our babies and brought them all home after 2 days. There are some really great doctors at UAMS.

Dr Lowery was my OB with both my daughters. I was considered high risk for a couple of reasons. While he was careful and concerned and somewhat fatherly with me, he didn't treat me like I was sick - or stupid. Just about every visit he'd say, "Now why are you here again?" That made me feel so good - it was such a sigh of relief. I came through with flying colors, carried daughter number one a week past my due date and worked up to the day I had her. He was out of network for us and had to get special permission to see him. After the great experience I had with him the first time, I didn't even consider anyone else for daughter #2. The best the in network perinatologist had to offer me was, "They're doing great things with babies at 28 weeks." I was devistated after talking to him and ultimately he would not take on my case.

Anyway - I've gone on way too long, so I'll close for now. Just know he's a great great guy. Send him my best if you think of it.

Sincerely, Lara

Anne
Congratulations and best wishes for a healthy pregnancy and healthy little girl.

Please be sure your doctor checks your vitamin D level. So much has been published about this recently.

Hi Christina,

Congratulations on your baby girl. I'm sure she will be beautiful. I'll be praying your all day sickness will go away soon. I'll be sure and remember your due date because my husbands birthday is Oct 21.

Laura
Congratulations on your baby Christiana

Karen
Congratulations on your baby. I have two and with my first I did not have morning sickness very much, but I did with my second and my doctor recommended that I take a unisom when I went to bed and I did not wake up with morning sickness. He also said to take your prenatal vitamins at the same time every day. That seemed to help me. I saw where someone mentioned using a lemon. My grandmother said that eating an orange wedge before breakfast every morning helped her. (It did not work for me because I tried it before I asked the doctor!) I guess everyone is different. Good luck and we will be watching you.

With my first and third pregnancies, my OB put me on phenergan for morning sickness. With my fourth, I was so incredibly sick I was on generic Zofran. If you're too terribly sick, I highly recommend it! :) Happy, healthy full-term pregnancy to you, Christina!

GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. I WISH YOU A HAPPY AND HEALTHY PREGNANCY AND DELIVERY . BEING A MOM MYSELF I KNOW YOU HAVE MANY DIFFERENT FEELINGS BUT THROUGH IT ALL THERE IS NOTHING IN THIS WORLD THAT I WOULD TRADE FOR MY BABY GIRL. THERE ARE NOT WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW AWESOME IT IS TO BE A MOM. YOU THINK YOU LOVE YOUR LITTLE ONE WHEN YOU ARE PREGNANT JUST WAIT IT GETS BETTER AND BETTER.

Congrats!!!!!!! This is the best gift a woman can recieve. I have two daughters who are 17 months apart ( I don't recommend two kids 17 months or less apart) lol. You said you are having morning sickness I thought I would share what i did for my sickness. Crackers and water with lemon. Something about the lemon really makes a difference. Also, your doctor should be able to give some meds for the sickness. Hopefully you will start feeling better. Just relax and enjoy your pregnancy, it is soooooo much fun. Good luck and God bless!!!!

I missed you segment this week, but I wish you the best. With my first child, I wasn't sick at all. However, with my 2nd, I was sick all day every day from the time I got pregnant until he was born. Hope yours gets better soon.

I just wanted to say CONGRADS !!! I have watched you for a long time. Once i was applying for a job through Staffmark, i noticed on the video they have you watch i could not believe it was you. So you do a very good job and hope to continue seeing you for years. Please keep us viewers up to date on your pregnancy. Can not wait to see what you will be having.

Have a good day

Karen
Christina, have you felt the baby move yet? I remember the first time I felt my daughter move I think I was about 3 or 4 months along. It felt like a little butterfly floating around. I think the idea of having the baby segment on the first Tuesday of each month is a great idea. This way we can all see how your doing and then other Moms who are expecting can relate to what their going through. God Bless You and Your Family Christina!

best wishes for your new baby and you
