Baby Milestones

Hi again!!!

I know I keep promising to post more often but there’s just not a lot of time between work and keeping up with Sydney.  But thanks for checking back in again!

So Sydney is now 3 and a half months old!!! That is so hard to believe. She is just an amazing baby! Her world is now full of smiles, holding up her head, and of course… lots of drool!

I love reading about “baby milestones” and what she should be able to do when. I know all babies are different but it really gives us a good idea of what’s to come. So, for the parents out there, I’d love to hear about your milestone stories. Let me know about some of the upcoming milestones we have to look forward to and when they happened for your little bundles of joy.

Here are some more recent pictures… hope you enjoy!!!

She's sweet!!! Is she rolling yet? My son (just turned one) was rolling back to front and front to back at about 4-5 months. And you're just a few months away from her crawling - I know that's hard to believe! But she'll be sitting (at about 6 months) and crawling (7-8 months...maybe even earlier, my girls crawled at 6 months) very, very soon! I'm officially the mother of a toddler now! My son started walking just three days after his first birthday!

Hi Christina. Sydney is beauiful and she looks like a happy baby! My little boy, Jackson, is 2 months old. He can hold his head up, but doesn't have complete control yet. He is starting to smile now. We are still waiting for him to laugh.

We are turning over from tummy to back and back to tummy. she is starting to show signs of wanting to sit alone maybe another week or so. we do not have any teeth yet but starting to really gum things as thou gums hurt.

She is such a beautiful baby. It is hard to believe that she is 3 1/2 months old already. Is she turning over yet. Just wait until she starts crawling that is going to be fun. Also take alot of pictures when she starts walking. My son started walking on his first birthday and it was just amazing. He is now four years old. But I can still remember it like it was yesterday.

Christina, I am eleven years old from AR and have followed Sydneys pics on your blog since the beginning. Sydney Raquel is such a beautiful name and you are so blessed to have a happy, healthy, growing baby girl to go through life with. I know it has been hard for you at channel 7 since the incident with Anne. I really enjoy going to the KATV ebsite and seeing your pics. Love,

Hi Christina! Thank you so much for those beautiful pictures, Sydney is so adorable!! She must be a funny baby!! I love the picture with the sun glasses on, she looks like a superstar!! I have the same kind of pics for my daughters, I guess all the moms do it! Anyway, now she is 3 and 1/2 month old... it goes so fast! Now is the time she may start teething so watch for those gums that might get bigger. My first daughter had a first tooth at 6 months, but my second daughter had hers at 4 months only! (In her case, teeth came out so quick that she almost didn't feel anything!!) Also, Sydney is trying to roll on one picture, I remember that my second daughter started that funny experience at Sydney's age, so you will have a lot of laugh!! Don't forget your camera!! My first daughter started to enjoy a lot bath time at this age : she would splash me a lot by moving up her tummy then back in the water and then that would make a big splash!! It is hard to explain, but may be you know what I am talking about! Both my daughters started moving on their tummy at that age, that was so funny to watch them go around their play area that wierd way! One other thing that she mightbe ready for : solid food. But I would recommend you to wait until she has one or two teeth. That was my "start point" for solid food with a spoon, it kind of tells you that your baby is ready for something else than milk. For my daughters, I started solid food at 6 months. That is what french pediatricians recommended. So when you think she can start solid food (but very mashed!!) put her in her high chair, recline it and start! You will have to be ready to take pictures, this is the funniest moment of the feeding part! My "must have" tool if you want to prepare your own baby food: The Baby Cook, from Beaba (you find it online at Williams Sonoma). But before introducing "solid" food, you can try to put some veggie juice in her bottle with her milk. You can start it now, so she will get used to the taste of veggies. Start little by little, just a little bit in the bottle. What I did was that I wood steam cook (or boil) some veggies (that could make a great soup for parents if you want a homemade soup!), and put a bit of the "juice" in the bottle. So I hope my comment gave you some ideas of what you can expect! And be prepare to laugh a lot!! Thanks for asking and I am sure a lot of moms will give you some tips as well! Enjoy your time with your beautiful and adorable Sydney Raquel!!

Your baby is so precious! I'm 5 months pregnant and can't wait until June!! Is this your first child?

CM, thanks for sharing pictures. Carol and I remember how exciting and exhausting it is to have a new baby in the house. And 3.5 months is a wonderful time.

At that age, our daughter was turning over from back to tummy, but didn't turn from tummy to back until she was almost 5 months. At 4.5 months, she would reach out for things that caught her eye. But at Sydney's age, she was laughing out loud and truly responding to various silly things we did. She discovered her hands at about 2.5 months, and at 15 weeks everything was tested by being tasted.

Enjoy this time because at about 22 weeks, our girl cut her first tooth. That was a cranky time. She also got a light case of chicken pox about the same time, so our situation may have been worse than normal. However, it was like we suddenly had lost the book and didn't know what to do for her.

Write down everything you can. You'll not be able to recall all of it any other way. And they will do some crazy things. For example, for about 3 days, our baby started bowing to us like she was from the Orient. She would do it, then we would do it, then she would repeat it. About the 4th day, she didn't do it again and never did again. But for a few days, she stopped being American, and was a very gracious Geisha.

Thanks so much for the updates. I love watching Sydney grow! 6-month old Zachary recently (5 months) began sitting up on his own. Now he's starting to crawl. Time for adventure!

She has been married for 13 years and has no children (she is a diabetic) but they have a Golden Retriever (he is our grand-dog). She has been a diabetic since she was 13. Hopefully someday she will have one! Anyway, we enjoy you so much on the news.
